How Having New Year Goals Can Change Your Life
Happy New Year everyone!
The first thing I did, just like everyone else on the 1st of January was to write down my new year goals. Keyword: write down. This is actually the first time I’m writing my goals down. This means that I’m being intentional about my goals and making actual efforts to work on them.
New Year resolutions are not exactly new. Cliche as they sound, some people take them very seriously because it gives them the opportunity to start afresh. A clean slate if you might add. But overtime, people have dumped resolutions for more substantial goals because they they tend to break them even before the end of January. But now, they are embracing S.M.A.R.T ( Specific.Measurable.Achieveable.Realistic.Time-bound) goals which makes them more acountable.
Now, how can new year goals change your life?
It’s simple.
Generally having goals means that you can work towards something that will have an impact in your life in the long run. For instance, if you want to improve your fianancial status by the end of the year, you will need to have a set of short term goals which would lead to that major increase. It could be by learning new skills and adding them to your current skillset or even be by starting a small business. Whatever it is when executed properly they would lead to your desired goal of financial increase by the end of the year.
Won’t that change your life?
And then if you’re smart, you go ahead and invest your earnings so that it can yield better returns. If you’re lucky and the economy is on your side, your life will be completely changed.
Bottom line, having goals and not just new year goals is the first step to getting the life of your dreams.
So, this new year, don’t be pressured to write a list. Sit down and think carefully about what you can achieve before the end of the year that would have the biggest impact on your life.
