From the day you were born till date, I bet you must have received a ton of greeting cards from various occasions especially your birthdays. I know there was a time when we used to use the cards we received as decorations. After they must have expired, we took them down, waited for the next birthday to come and repeated the same thing. It was like a routine of sorts. But now, nobody gat time for that. Instead, we stockpile them somewhere until they are ready to be disposed of. Personally, I shred mine into pieces before throwing them away.

But what if I told you that there’s a way to repurpose these old greeting cards, would you believe me and stop disposing of them? Yeah, I know. You’re probably interested as long as it doesn’t take too much time. I feel you.

Repurposing old greeting cards is a great way to extend its life. Especially if they’re the pricey type and you don’t have the heart to toss them into the trash.

Here are some ways you can reuse your greeting cards.

• As a bookmark

The bookish ones can attest to the fact that there’s nothing like a great bookmark. For someone like me that uses anything as a bookmark, I could just reach out to one or two of favorite cards and turn them into one. If you’re not sure how to do that, get an old bookmark and cut it according to the default size and you’re good to go! If you’re lucky, you can make a business out of it. Just collect old cards from your friends and family and make several ones. If you’re good, you could sell them.

• As name tags

Most of us wrap the gifts we give to people ourselves. When wrapping, we reach out for a piece of paper or cardboard to address the gift to its owner. Usually, it’s just the name. But what if I told you that instead of using a plain paper, you can repurpose your old greeting cards as name tags. It’s more decent and fancier. Just make sure you doing it properly and not anyhow.

• For scrapbooks

Scrapbooking is one of my favorite pastimes. I spent most of my teenage years designing scrapbooks. I cut out all of my favorite things from magazines and past them in my scrapbook. Although we have Pinterest now, if I ever go back to it and I would definitely repurpose my old greeting cards. Especially the ones with great designs.

• As a note

This method is quite similar to the name tags. But this time, you could use the plain side of your old greeting card to write a heartfelt note which would accompany the gift/gift bag.

• Donate them to a nursery/preschool

Nursery kids never really run out of art and craft ideas. Which is why you could also donate your old greeting cards to them especially if you don’t have the time or you’re not crafty enough. You’ll be surprised with what they come up with.
