4 Other Things You Can Give Besides Gifts This Season
Granted, it’s great to give gifts this season. In fact, we’re expected to give whatever we can, however, we can. But what happens when we simply don’t have enough to give? How else can we tap into the blessings of the season?
Yes, times are hard and more than ever before, it will take an extra amount of goodwill to consider others before ourselves. But what if there’s a way around it? What if there’s something we can still give that would be just as appreciated as material/physical gifts?
Well, there is, and here they are.
-
Your time
It’s the holidays, everyone’s on a break and your job is not exactly calling your name. Well, except you’re anything like me then you can just jump past it. Anyway, if you are not financially buoyant this season, you can give your time. There are a lot of NGOs and charities that organize events for the less privileged during the holidays. This means that they also need a lot of hands especially since they are non-profit. So, look for one around your neighborhood and volunteer your time and service. This way, you are also giving back.
-
Your skills
Everyone has unique talents and skills. Some of which have made way for us one way or the other. Which means that it would cost us next to nothing to offer our skills for free. So, have you been thinking of what to get for a particular person and you simply cannot afford to? Well, is there something you can do for them for free that they will appreciate? Of course, everyone likes free things. So, think about it, I’m sure you’ll come up with something.
-
Your money
Yes, I know what I said about finances and whatnot but just hear me out. I’m not asking you to drop all of your savings. No, far from it. There are so many needy people around you that don’t even want that amount you’re thinking of but they will appreciate a token. They say little drops of water make a mighty ocean. Find somewhere you can donate your little token no matter how small. I’m sure it will go a long way.

Your personal belongings
People have this habit of stocking things up especially things they might not use for a while. But instead of giving it out, they keep it. Just in case. Now, all those things you have been keeping, it’s time to bring them out and give someone. From clothes you haven’t worn in about six months but are still in great conditions to shoes that are too small for you but you’re managing. Yes, bring them out, clean them and wrap them up. Remember, they must be in great condition. Don’t give something you cannot accept. Also, you can give books you don’t need anymore to someone who would need it but might not afford it. Bottom line? Take stock and give out things that are occupying space. Trust me, you will feel better.
Now, you have absolutely no excuse to not give this season. Look inwards and you will find something someone out there will appreciate.
